Description
The Brown Rat ( also known as the Norwegian, common or sewer rat) is the rat most usually encountered in Britain. It has a head and body length of around 18cm, and a weight of 200-400g.
Habitat
Brown rats are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, typically near human habituation.
Threats
Rats can cause damage by gnawing through cables and the like and by infesting commodoties in store, such as grain or cereal. They are also carriers of such diseases as Salmonella, Listeria and Escherichia coli.
