Description
The adult is light brown in colour with two dark almost parallel longitudinal stripes on the pronotal shield. The female is darker than the male and with a broader abdomen. Both male and female adults are fully winged. Adults are 13-16mm in length and they are largely nocturnal, which may make them difficult to detect.
Habitat
German cockroaches are found throughout buildings but show a preference to warm humid areas. They are good climbers, being able to climb vertical glass or tiled surfaces.
Threats
Cockroaches have been implicated with the tranmission of disease and this is further exacerbated by the fact that they do not have a dormant period and so remain able to infect throught the year.
